3 Tips and Tricks for New Dnd Players

As we are starting our first public campaign, we are brought back to thoughts of when we all first started playing #dnd

For all of those #newbies out there, here's some important things to remember, especially if you're not enjoying your first #campaign.

#1 It's always important to enjoy playing the character you created. If you aren't having fun being a wizard/cleric/fighter/rogue/etc etc then you should change it up. Afterall, you're playing to have fun. If the character you truly want to play likely won't last long, either work it out with the DM to make the character playable, or accept that you will only get to enjoy your character for a short time. But playing a lot of fun characters vs playing one unenjoyable character will be worth it :)

#2 Some groups play so strictly by the rules that you'll be counting every movement step and every second of an encounter. Other groups will ignore the rules so blatantly that you're pretty sure you're not even playing dnd anymore! You might have to join a few campaigns before you find a group that suites how you like to play.

#3 In case you aren't familiar with Power Rangers or super heroes in general, what I'm trying to say is that you're part of a team.

You've got to aim to be The Three Musketeers, Sailor Scouts, TMNT, Teen Titans (which are super heroes, but don't follow the usual solo act theme)! If you're trying to be Batman with sidekicks, or Goku and who even knows who Yamcha is anymore, then you may find that other players will not like playing with you! Who wants to be a side character in a grand adventure?
